Bichons are cheerful little socialites. They're small enough to fit comfortably into compact homes, but their personalities are anything but tiny. They're often playful, affectionate and keen to be involved with their people. They can be a particularly appealing choice for someone who wants a companion dog without the physical demands of a large breed. They're still playful and need regular walks and interaction, but they don't require a huge amount of space to live happily. Their coat is the major consideration. Bichons are often appreciated for their low-shedding coat, but low shedding doesn't mean low maintenance. Regular brushing and grooming are part of the deal if you want to keep that distinctive fluffy appearance comfortable and manageable. Their sociable nature can also make them a good fit for households with children or other pets, provided introductions and interactions are sensible.
